The 50th anniversary of the Xavery Dunikowski Museum of Sculpture was celebrated by an extraordinary exhibition entitled “Zbigniew Libera: To nie moja wina, że otarła się o mnie ta rzeźba” (“Zbigniew Libera: It’s Not My Fault That This Sculpture Rubbed Against Me”). Libera, in a charming and humorous way, described his role in this project as “truffle hog”. The artist has picked a few dozen of sculptures (mostly from the 20th century) from the Museum’s storage and created a special series of 9 drawings commenting on his selection; they not only offer new interpretation hints but also unveil a “behind the scenes” stories from the life of Polish sculptors. The exhibition—an apocryphal and sensuous journey through the overlooked histories of modern Polish sculpture—was curated by Joanna Turowicz.
