The photograph was originally com­misioned by Nowy Teatr in Warsaw for a poster adver­tising a play direc­ted by its artistic direc­tor Krzysz­tof War­likow­ski. Libera refers to the history of photography, anth­ropology and colonialism to create an evocative por­trait of the ‘savage’ Europeans – a photographic image of the future entitled just like Warlikowski’s play.
