2014, aluminium foil and acrylic on canvas, 27 x 41 cm
In Matecki’s paintings aluminum foil reflects the gleam of Warhol’s Factory. He pursues contemporary aesthetic values and a new semantic range of associations with aluminum, which is equally cheap and pricey, swift, euphoric, speed-like. The minimal use of matter and gestures works in favor of the multifaceted expression given off by the silvery material, glimmering, graceful and not entirely predictable.
