Bujnowski's perfectly monochrome paintings in black come alive when the light hits them at a certain angle. The painter consistently devotes himself to the idea of the black painting, and each new incarnation becomes part of the artist's cosmological credo. White light and black matter (paint) come together in a mutual embrace. The artist's gesture is the third quality, as simple as possible, broken down to an almost purely mechanical movement. Yet, this black "nearly nothing" contains it all: space and time, landscape and the light that transforms it with each subsequent glance.
