Olaf Brzeski returns to clay as the simplest and most basic form of sculptural expression. In his micro-cycle of vases-ashtrays, he reinterprets the tradition of ceramics, usually associated with the production of everyday objects.
The Adventure series, to which the sculptures belong, was executed by the artist during his rehabilitation following a serious, near-tragic accident. Brzeski finds inspiration in the simplest feelings, which take on extraordinary importance in new circumstances. The sculptures from the Adventure series can be treated as moving, intimate monuments of everyday emotions, such as the pleasure of smoking or admiring flowers.
