RASTER EDITIONS

Zbigniew Libera
African Tales by Shakespeare

2011
pigment ink on cotton paper, 55 x 55 cm, ed. of 20 + 2 A.P.

The photograph belongs to a photoshoot originally commisioned by Nowy Teatr in Warsaw to advertise a play directed by its artistic director Krzysztof Warlikowski but wasn't chosen for the official poster. Libera refers to the history of photography, anthropology and colonialism to create an evocative portrait of the 'savage' Europeans - a photographic image of the future entitled just like Warlikowski's play.
