copper tubes, thread, fishing line, 100 x 90 x 90 cm

The hanging, meticulous object made of copper tubes relates to the traditional form of popular Polish folk spiders. These decorations, made out of straw, tissue-paper and fabric were hung from the ceiling of country houses.

Here, the decorative character of the spiders was limited and brought down to its sole geometric structure, bringing to mind abstract ornamentation of arabic art and the minimalist language of modern sculpture.
