In “A Short History of Photography” Walter Benjamin remarked: “Not for nothing have Atget’s photographs been likened to the scene of a crime. But is not every square inch of our cities the scene of a crime? Every passer-by a culprit? Is it not the task of the photographer to reveal guilt and to point out the guilty in his pictures?”
Let this motto serve as an invitation to a special auction held together by Raster Foundation and Jerzy Lewczyński Institute, organized to help support Lewczyński’s archive and Raster’s publishing activity. It will be a one-time opportunity to purchase rare works, last copies or unique photographs by many critically acclaimed photographers and artists such as Michał Diament, Nicolas Grospierre, Aneta Grzeszykowska, Jerzy Lewczyński, Zbigniew Libera, Władysław Pawelec, Marek Piasecki. A special selection of works by talented photographers of the younger generation will also be available.
