Brzeski, Dawicki, Grzeszykowska and Libera in Zachęta – National Gallery of Art

An exhibition of the gallery’s own collection is currently underway at Zachęta in Warsaw, re-examining many iconic works of Polish art from the first two decades of the 21st century, including the photography series Negative Book by Aneta Grzeszykowska, Art Is Violence by Olaf Brzeski, and the video projection by Oskar Dawicki from which the show takes its title. Indeed, Dawicki shed tears publicly during his performance piece at the exhibition opening. Brzeski, in turn, made a distinct intervention in the exhibition by taking for a spin (literally and figuratively) the 19th-century figure of a gladiator greeting the gallery audience from above the stairs. The show runs till 15th of September.
