A new installation by Slavs and Tatars titled “Mellon محلةMahallah” is on view starting 24 January at the 2nd Islamic Arts Biennale in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The piece alludes to an Uzbek legend that the melon is a fruit of divine origin, and the cracks in its skin are secret writing by the Almighty.
