A group of artists led by Jakub de Barbaro, Agnieszka Polska and Jacek Simon has prepared an amazing holiday project: a traveling gallery called Szalona Galeria (Crazy Gallery) that will visit small towns all around Poland during a summer roadtrip in July and August. In each stop they will set a camp with a pop-up exhibition and art bookshop, followed by film projections. Other artists that had agreed to take part in the project by lending their works for this art caravan are, among others: Rafał Bujnowski, Oskar Dawicki, Aneta Grzeszykowska, Marcin Maciejowski, Honorata Martin, Przemek Matecki and Wilhelm Sasnal. The whole idea was born as a fun and positive reaction to the drastic socio-political changes, also regarding cultural politics, currently experienced in Poland.
Szalona Galeria will be financed by the artists themselves and crowdfunding. Everyone who supports the project will receive specially designed “crazy” postcards, posters and editions, or even more precious prizes like the mock-up of the gallery (prepared by another artist, Katarzyna Przezwańska) that was first shown during a conference/exhibition “DE-MO-KRA-CJA” in Labirynt gallery in Lublin.
