The shovel, as the centrepiece of the Towarzystwo Szubrawców logo, is used to parody the parasitism of the nobility who rides it like a witch. The Towarzystwo Szubrawców ridiculed the fancy language of Polish 19th century romanticism through its journal Wiadomości Brukowe (eng. Pavement News). Pavement Prose reimagines the piece as a languid bar-table, where tongues let loose (to which the eponymous Polish phrase alludes) and proverbial skeletons of history are excavated.
