Iza Opiełka is a painter whose abstract works explore the aesthetics of contemporary information technology, printing, graphic design, and product design. She employs traditional, entirely analogue techniques, working with oil and acrylic paints and applying multiple layers and textures to the canvas.
Her starting point often consists of forms processed in graphic design software, glitches, or fragments of imagery drawn from internet folklore. Rescaled and transferred onto the canvas using stencils, these elements create a distinctive and visually expressive style.
The characteristic white-grey-beige palette of Opiełka’s paintings references the colours of office equipment and electronic devices.
