Works by Sławomir Elsner are being shown at the Lenbachhaus in Munich among paintings from the museum’s collection of works by the artists from Der Blaue Reiter group. Elsner’s drawings offer his own interpretation of two portraits of the legendary Russian dancer and choreographer Alexander Sakharoff, painted by Alexej von Jawlensky and Marianne von Werefkin. The works created with crayons on paper correspond with the watercolors and the entire arrangement of the room designed by the artist. The show, which runs until February 2021, is the latest museum presentation of works by Elsner in which he conducts a dialogue with the history of art.
