The Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich is presented an intriguing project by Sławomir Elsner inspired by a wedding self-portrait of Peter Paul Rubens, The Honeysuckle Bower, one of the masterpieces in the Alte Pinakothek collection. Case Studies on Rubens is a monumental series of 17 works on paper with dimensions the same as the format of the painting by the Flemish artist. They analyse and paraphrase the Baroque work through various means, including allusions to contemporary photographic and printing technologies for art reproduction. The exhibition is accompanied by publication of a limited-edition catalogue.
