The Crafts Fiction exhibition offers a journey back in time – simultaneously into the distant past and the indefinite future. The works of art on display, although very different at first glance, have a similar hybrid nature. They combine and mutate elements of different natural and cultural realities. What makes them unique is the special focus on the original and individual technique of their execution, as if it were a question of creating not only a work of art, but also an evocative, artisanal masterpiece, an object of unprecedented genre. Referring to various traditional languages of plastic fabrication – painting, figural sculpture, marquetry – they vary their properties to create a futuristic image of the world or post-civilization. These are visions with varying degrees of optimism, but each is radically seductive and visually fascinating.
