Jonas Voegeli is a Swiss graphic designer based in Zürich whose work is dedicated to editorial design, art direc­tion and brand develop­ment. Voegeli is a book­maker. With his new approaches in editing, each of his books becomes a strong visual symbol of a con­tem­porary myth. His work was awar­ded with the Swiss Federal Price for Design (2003, 2009), Gold-, Silver- and Bron­cemedal at the inter­national com­petition most beautiful books of the world (2005, 2006, 2011), as well as most beautiful swiss books (2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011) and most beautiful austrian books (2009). Voegeli has teached, juried, and taught work­shops and lec­tures at Univer­sity for Art and Design Zurich, Hoch­schule für Gestal­tung und Kunst Luzern, Hoch­schule für Gestal­tung Karls­ruhe, F+F Zürich, Typographische Gesel­l­schaft Austria and many more. Since 2003 he is profes­sor for editorial design at ECAL/Ecole can­tonale d’art de Lausanne. Voegeli is a Member of Alliance Graphique Inter­nationale since 2011.

Marco Müller is a Swiss graphic designer wor­king on the broad field of books, editorial projects, typefaces and visual iden­tities. He studied visual com­munication at Univer­sity of the Arts Zürich and after wor­king with several designers in Zürich and London he set up his own studio in 2008. Several of his books got national and inter­national awards. In 2012 he foun­ded the typefoun­dry Metaflop.com and star­ted wor­king as an art direc­tor for FREITAG lab ag.

Win­fried Heinin­ger lives and works as a designer and publisher in Baden, Swit­zer­land. He is the foun­der of Kodoji Press, an indepen­dent publishing project focuses on young con­tem­porary art and photography. He has a long-​time experience in the dif­ferent fields of the publishing industry, namely design, editing, and publishing. He was also the co-​founder and co-​owner of Schaden.com in Cologne, a book­shop devoted to photography and art. Cur­ren­tly, he regularly teaches and con­ducts work­shops in editing at the ECAL/Ecole can­tonale d’art de Lausanne and lec­tures at various other schools. His books have received notable awards and honorary appreciations among others Best Book Design from all over the World; The Most Beautiful Swiss Books; Prix du Livre, Ren­con­tres d’Arles; German Photo Book Prize and the Publisher Prize at Salon Light, Paris.

Urs Lehni graduated from the Lucerne Univer­sity of Applied Scien­ces and Arts with a diploma in graphic design in 1999 and in 2006 atten­ded the post academic research program at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. He runs the small graphic design studio Lehni-​Trueb with part­ner Lex Trueb which was foun­ded in 2005. Besides wor­king for clients mainly in the field of art and cul­ture, he often fol­lows self-​initiated projects, such as Vec​torama.org (with Jürg Lehni and Rafael Koch, 2000), Our Magazine (with Melanie Hof­mann and Nick Widmer, 2002) and more recen­tly the prin­ting and publishing ven­ture Rollo Press (2008). In 2008 Lehni co-​initiated Corner Col­lege, a non-​commercial project space focusing on pseudo-​academic hap­penings such as lec­tures, presen­tations, work­shops and movie screenings. He lec­tures regularly at the Univer­sities of Applied Art Bern and Lucerne as well as occasionally at other national schools and abroad. Urs Lehni is a profes­sor at the Univer­sity of Arts and Design Karls­ruhe, Ger­many. He was appoin­ted critic in graphic design at Yale in 2013.

A SERIES OF MEETINGS WITH THE SWISS DESIGNERS

How to design art books?

Public lectures concerning the design, production and distribution of contemporary art-related publications as well as projects from the intersection of editorship and art: art books, photo-books, artistic prints and editions. 

 

Project is implemented in collaboration with the Swiss Art Council Pro Helvetia. Coordination: Magda Olasińska, Pro Helvetia Warsaw and Gunia Nowik on behalf of Raster Gallery.

 

All meetings are conducted in English.
