Gloria Amore Victis

quartz, bronze, 130 x 80 cm

The classical form of the stone plaque embellished with a bronze cast of the back side of a woman’s bust is dedicated to everyone who has suffered in the name of love.
The title phrase (Glory unto the Victims of Love) is drawn from the poetry typical of dedicated monuments for fallen war heroes.

The work was created for the annual Open City Festival of Art in the Public Space (curated by Łukasz Gorczyca) and installed into the façade of the former Lubomirski Palace in Litewski Square in Lublin, which currently houses the Faculty of Political Science of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. During the opening, flowers were laid under the plaque by the artist and the audience.
