Colonies

2006
oil on canvas, various dimensions

Most of Bujnowski's paintings are based on studied and practiced procedures. There's lack of room for error and at the same time the absolute suggestiveness of translating the gesture into painterly presentation. As in the Colonies series, where the traces of a ball on the wet surface of the canvas is also the inscription of an automatic action lasting only a few seconds, and the imagining of an organic colony of jellyfish, or rather, the seductive suggestion of their shapes.
