Oskar Dawicki
Portrait of Cicely Saunders

2009, drawing on paper, fiberboard, clips, stool, lamp

Cicely Saunders (1918–2005) was a British doctor, founder of the St. Christopher's Hospice in London, considered a pioneer of modern palliative medicine. The portrait done by Dawicki makes reference to the fact that Saunders' late husband was the Polish artist Marian Szyszko-Bohusz (1901–95), who died of cancer (as had her previous partners, also from Poland).
